Hunting Antler Sheds With The Use of a Dog!
Hunting antlers has long been enjoyed by not only deer hunters, but hunters and sportsmen from various hunting disciplines.
Antler Dogs on the Canadian Prairie
In shed hunting, much like in bass fishing, the hunter dreams of the day when he catch’s or finds the really big one.
Puppy Training an Antler Dog
Training a puppy for any hunting sport is very much the same. The most important task is to select the puppy or dog that is best suited for the hunting sport in which you wish to participate.
Shed Hunting Using an Antler Dog
There is a new twist to the sport of shed hunting, it is the use of a highly trained dog that can actually scent the antlers and retrieve them for you.

The Happy Family with their newest member Buck!

Corey Thomas - Aubrey TX

Hey Roger and Sharon just wanted to drop a note!

I really value the interest  that you guys have had on the transition with us getting Newt, with the calls and emails . Just wanted to say I was impressed with your facility and training methods. The welcome was a lasting memory and Newt will be as well! NEWT has fit into our family really well  and has had some great finds .Although the shed season is months away for (09) he has found some sheds as I have been keeping him tuned up with the HIDING game. He goes to the field when I go and really enjoys it. I hide antlers and he finds those and you look up and he’s bringing one that you didn’t hide. The statement  “THAT DOG WILL HUNT” says it all !!  Thanks for all your help  and for a   great Dog.  Newt has  a lot of spirit and really impressed a lot of skeptics with his ability to find sheds.  Antler Ridge is the real deal ! Leave the light on  as I will be back for another.

Regards ,

The Kramers

Taw and Mike I and my friend went out shed hunting last Saturday and I found this monster!  Taw smelled it just a few seconds after I spotted it.  He also found a 5 point that day too.  Took Taw out again a couple days later and the first one he found was about a 3 year old nice 5 point and then a little while later he found a 5 point from last year and then the last one he found was a small 3 point from this year, so he has been doing great.  Shed hunting will have to be put on hold though, will be starting in the field probably tomorrow.  Have a great day and say "Hi" to your wife from the Kramer's.

Talk to ya later,

Stanley Janik - Hodgkins, IL

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Stanley Janik and I own up scale millwork company in a Chicago suburb, after reading the article in North American Whitetail magazine, I purchased a wonderful Labrador puppy from Roger.  I was given a choice of an adult dog or puppy and I decided that I wanted a puppy so that I could bond with him.

I visited Roger Sigler’s facility early this spring to pick up my puppy.  I was impressed with the wonderful place that he had.  It was very open and clean.

I have been very pleased with the puppy that was selected for me and I look forward to taking him back this fall for his formal training.

I have received instruction from Roger on how to bring my puppy along as he gets ready for his return for training.

I was made to feel welcome and very much at home when I visited Roger in Kansas City.  I am confident that my dog will be well trained and cared for while he is with Roger this fall.

My husband and I immediately fell in love with our new dog, Ki. He’s not only a great antler dog, but one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. He’s truly become part of the family. The “owner training” that Antler Ridge provides has greatly helped us keep his training going successfully. From basic obedience to hunting horns, I continue to be amazed by this dog. Roger keeps close contact with us to make sure Ki is doing well, and to answer any questions we may have. How many trainers will do that?!
Not only have we gained a wonderful dog, we also have gained some wonderful friends!

Paul & Angela Christian - Sioux Rapids, IA

To Whom It May Concern:

This Letter is to formally state our high regard for Roger Sigler.  Throughout the time we have been privileged to know Roger, he has always maintained a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Paul & I are Co-Owners of a Heavy Construction Business, Christian Bros. Excavating L.C., in Northwest Iowa.  It is a family owned business for over 40 years.  We first met Roger through an article in Whitetail Magazine.  It was an article about a dog trainer that could teach doges to hunt for whitetail antlers.  Given the fact that Paul is an avid whitetail hunter who longed for a puppy to go with him shed hunting, Roger seemed to be our answer.  We own 60 acres of flat Iowa farmland and own 276 acres of Iowa River/ Timber ground that is prime Northwest Iowa Whitetail hunting.  Through talking with Roger on the phone he quickly gained out respect and we realized how dependable, motivated and personable he was.

Roger invited us to his home to show us the dogs he works with and how he trains them.  After we arrived and watched him for a total of five minutes with each of the four dogs he was training, Roger exceeded our expectations and more.  In less than five minutes of Roger working with our two-month-old puppy, Roger had him sitting, listening to commands, and retrieving.

Roger is an outstanding man.  He possesses a great deal of self-motivation and drive.  We are confident that he will succeed in any endeavor that he decides to pursue.  Thank you for your time, and please consider Roger for speaking at your event.

To Whom it may concern,

In March of 2006 I came across an article in North American Whitetail that I found quite interesting. The article described a man, Roger Sigler that has been training dogs for 30 plus years. The thing that intrigued me about the article was the fact that he has had recent success training dogs to find deer antlers. Being a whitetail shed hunter myself, I couldn’t help but think about how awesome it would be to have one of these antler hunting dogs of my own. To say the least, I was still quite skeptic.

I decided to contact Roger to at least hear him out. I found that Roger was more than willing to explain his process and made me feel that there was little to lose in giving this a try. Upon arriving at Rogers’s farm, he gave me a tour of his facilities and introduced me to some of his dogs. He had dogs that were already seasoned veterans and some that were in training. Roger demonstrated the entire process and even did some training for us to observe.

I felt very comfortable driving home with my new pup. I knew from talking to Roger that he was more than willing to walk me through the process and would always be there as needed. In the past few months I have contacted Roger with several questions and concerns. Every time Roger has been extremely patient and enthused about tutoring me in my methods.

I am very happy that I decided to purchase a dog through Roger. If you are an antler shed hunting fanatic like me, I would highly recommend giving Roger Siegler a call. You won’t be sorry.

To Whom it may concern,

I am writing to you today regarding our dog, BUCK. We are very happy with the newest addition to our family . My wife and kids fell in love with Buck instantly. I picked up Buck in the spring of 2006 and we were very surprised and pleased with his mannerisms and the obedience he has shown. And I can't wait until hunting season gets here so that we can start looking for sheds. Thank you so much we could not be more please with Buck.
